First Letter: Shiwu to T'aego

The following comes at the very tail end of the Zen records in China, another ten years and milleniarian Buddhist cults will rise up to wrest control over the land from a gang of foreign warlords..

The dialogue between Zen Masters is one of intimate friendship that messiah's can't offer, drinking on the weekend tries to ape at, and frauds try to pass themselves off as capable of.

...

At the time we met, for me, there was no dharma to be talked about, and for him, there was no word to be heard. This was a true meeting. If there is the least pretext that allows for talk, fundamentally, all of these are thorns of opinions. This is the true pattern of the meetings of all the ancients.

I am glad to hear that he has returned to the great capital, but I do not know whether he will stay there or return home, so I have to cut this short. Above all I hope he will take the great Dharma as the most important thing. This is what I pray for.

"If there is the least pretext that allow for talk, fundamentally, all of these are thorns of opinions." -- How do you talk about this with people?

"I hope he will take the great Dharma as the most important thing. This is what I pray for." -- What's a more accurate translation of 'pray for'?

I'm going with 'beseech' or 'implore'.
