Daido of Tosu (Ta-tung of T'ou tzt shan, S19-914) was asked: "Who is Vairocana-Buddha¹?"
Tosu answered: "He already has a name."
"Who is the master of Vairocana-Buddha?"
"Prehend (bui-cb'u) him when Vairocana has not yet come to existence."
As soon as you name the sky, it ceases to be sky. Why? How will you comprehend the sky? How will you comprehend the Vairocana?
¹Vairocana-Buddha in Buddhism is the Cosmic Buddha. Omniscient. Omnipresent. Universal.
