From Case 85 of Dahui's Treasury of the Eye of the True Teaching
A monk asked Nanyuan, "Are the meaning of Zen and the meaning of [the Buddha Dharma] the same of different?"
He said, "Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Oficer."
The monk said, "I don't understand."
The Master said, "Ox head south, horse head north."
Dahui remarked, "The former answer hit the mark; the latter answer didn't"
Ah! How will you approach the meeting of creditors on Nanyuan's sorry bankrupt ass? He's really got a lot to pay for with this sort of talk...
You tell me, where did Nanyuan miss the mark?
