A good thing is not as good as nothing. - An Ancient Proverb (Chao Chou, Yunmen)
For people who supposedly understand this, some of you sure spend a lot of time here. Scratching an itch that is never satisfied, eating without ever getting full, making castles in the sand, washing dirt with mud, stacking snow upon snow. When have such people ever even dreamed of the true meaning of those ancient words?
~
If you have to conceive an idea of emptiness or of nothingness, how is that true emptiness or nothingness? Who is the one conceiving? If there is not a single thing to do, why then must you put in effort?
Chan worthies, do you want to know Chao Chou? No one sees the sweating horses of the past - they only want to talk over and over about the achievement crowning the age. - Xuedou
