A change in my morning routine.

My morning routine usually consists of a mug of coffee, a read through r/zen posts, watch the news on telly, feed the doggos, then off to work.

Today I dispensed with reading the posts, and watching the telly, and opted instead for a little meditation, just sitting, observing bodily sensations and whatever arises within the sphere of my thoughts.

I am going to try and keep up with this routine, as I now feel a lot more relaxed and centred after a little meditation.

I am usually tired all day long, every day, my mind on the go, constantly, from waking to sleep.

I do think that taking time out, in some form or another helps, but it's like we are geared up for action all the time in this modern world, just reacting to circumstances, maybe even the circumstances we ourselves have set in motion..

Here is a mod satisfying quote about meditation taken from Treasury of the Eye of True Teaching 607

.

.

"My teacher says subtle clear mental calm is completely peaceful, essence and function as such; the five clusters are fundamentally empty, the data of the six senses are not existent. Not emerging, not entering, not concentrated, not confused, the essence of meditation has no dwelling - detachment from dwelling is the peace of meditation; the essence of meditation has no production - detachment from production is meditation contemplation. Mind is like space, yet without the idea of space."

.

Is there still a debate going on here, surrounding the use of meditation in the classical zen period?
