Hello everyone!
Lately I was thinking about the lineage in Zen, and some questions arise. If I may, I would like to share them with you:
Is lineage important? Isn't it? Why is it the one way or the other? How is it important (if you think sometimes it is and sometimes is not)? Does lineage introduces a sense of authority? Finally, shall we assume that lineage is important in other aspects or life?
One thing seems clear to me. The respect people have in lineage must have something to do with the tradition of respecting the ancestors (in Asia in general). Am I right to assume so?
Please share your thoughts
