Being woke doesn't always mean we are never triggered.
It just means we see those moments for what they are - without identifying and reacting as if something is happening to us at the hands of someone else.
If someone insults me for example, my ego gets triggered, blood rushes to my face and I feel offended. However, I am able to simultaneously observe the moment as the moment, rather than lose the witness and dream that we are the character called 'me.'
This of course means the difference between allowing and reacting.
Witnessing is a sort of muscle that needs to be developed through practice.
The more we sweat in times of peace, the less we bleed in times of war...
That is to say, when we cultivate the practice of creating a distance from our Self and the "me" that many of us are enmeshed in, we are able to flow more easily through actual instances of people triggering our own egos(life basically)
It's important to consider also that this insight alone is not enough. The ego is a powerful force that can easily hijack an untrained heart and mind, even one that has glimpsed at the other side of the veil.
However, by continuously awakening to the Reality of the Now, the Witness is accessed more naturally and without friction, eventually transmuting all triggers of fear to that of Compassion.
The goal of meditation is to merge all moments into one, allowing one's self to always be in a meditative state.
