Today's expression of Zen shouldn't drag itself down with mimickery of the ancients. Their smartassery is a thousand years out of fashion. Their texts should be starting points, not guides.
E.g. when discussing the texts we don't need to read your attempt at Middle Chinese idioms in English. Who the fuck talks like that? Nobody. It's LARPing. Translate the idiom.
The ancients didn't talk like that JUST because they were jerk-offs, they thought it was the most effective way of talking! Is trying to sound like them in 2018 effective? It's forced and loses the respect of people visiting our subreddit.
I suggest we tell it like it is and express our opinions openly both in the sense of vocabulary and that of openness to critique.
