Indeed...this subreddit feels like I'm going to the grocery store for milk but then it's actually a post office so I figure I'll send some mail and when I get home there's milk in my mailbox, still cold.
I guess it's working haha.
The zen I know and practice is not based on "teachings", writings, institutions, and certainly requires no gatekeepers or discouragements.
The zen I know and practice is an open invitation to all to be present and participate, sitting, standing, or flopping like a fish, all are welcome. From my heart I encourage everyone to seek if they feel like seeking, sit if they feel like sitting, and embrace fully whatever your idea of zen is, so we can discover it together and make it anew in each moment. There is no such thing as zen in the past. It is all entirely made up at this point.
What is zen to you? Is it a practice? Is it studying the koan? Is it a cult? Is it undefinable?
To me zen is mindfulness practice. One with an emphasis on non attachment. I think it's that simple, I could show you, but I can't really say more.
What about you?
