Sayings of Joshu #138 (my comments in parenthesis) Someone asked, "'Originally, all things are carefree. ( This is true. The natural state of mind is carefree) It is man who makes them agitated.' ( This is also true, but it is ego or self in man that does it.) Whose saying is this?" ( He looks for a source for the saying)
Joshu said, "The instant it comes out, it is dead. ( To me, this implies that the sayings when voiced create concepts that instantly destroy the carefree mind.) :)
