I "Ground"
Inanimate is the source nature of ground,
Yet, it is because of life, that we say there is ground—
This has been circulated and passed on, from antiquity to present,
Not foolish, nor wise.
.
II "Seed"
From ancient times, there has never been delusion,
Up to now, where is enlightenment?
Only conditions; seeds are naturally deep—
Furthermore, neither paths are diverging.
.
III "Flower"
There are seeds, and there is the ground of mind,
And causes and conditions; flowers bloom of their own accord—
Wanting to know where the fruit can be harvested,
The Patriarch has arrived, with but a smile.
.
IV Altogether
After the flower of five petals has opened,
Mountains are tall, waters deep,
Turbulent clouds cross the mouth of the valley—
The wanderer is deceived, seeking seeking.
.
