For those whose root of faith is weak, the final day will never come - Linji

For many, the word "faith" means unfounded belief, or a weak form of belief, and nothing more.

Like many words, there is really another sense to it. In what sense do you have faith in a person? That isn't some lack luster conviction in their existence. It is a kind of knowledge, the strongest statement you can make because you can't claim to know how they will react to anything in particular, not exactly. This sense of faith is something closer to trust. It is not some half-baked weak form of knowledge. It is something between you and the person.

This is the faith that comes into play in Zen--between you and the Unborn, and it is not some half-baked weak belief in the "existence" of it.

If your root of faith is weak, the final day will never come.
