Reach the source of your own mind.

The path is not revealed only after explanation and direction; it is inherently always out in the open. Explanation and direction are expedient methods, used to get you to realize enlightenment; they are also temporary byroads. Some attain realization through explanation, some attain realization through direction, some attain by spontaneous awakening; ultimately there is nothing different, no separate attainment. It is simply a matter of reaching the source of mind.

The final destination is the source, the foundation of your own mind.

However you are always in contact with the effects of your own mind, be they worried thoughts, feelings of happiness, excitement, boredom or whatever you experience.... But what is fuelling these feelings or thoughts?

It seems to me that a lot of the time, in my day to day life, I'm working on auto pilot, and the various goings on of my mind are just habits that I've built up over many years.

The need to be constantly doing something productive, for example. This need doesn't come from the mind source, or, maybe, it does come from the minds source, but its twisted out of shape, by too much worry over personal, or family circumstances, and comes from being conditioned into having to work hard, aquire, save for a rainy day. Etc.

If we look into this feeling, it's built up upon lots of other subtle ideas that we uphold, and the same can be said of most of our ideas.

Its like we are taking the mind source, and letting it be manipulated out of shape, by all the multitude of concerns, with the existence of this thing we have built up, our sense of self.

How to clear out, or straighten out our own minds, so we can return to this clear mind source, is my take, on what foyan, and for that matter, all the zen teachings are asking of us..

We are like hamsters on a wheel, and the spinning of our wheel mind, has overtaken the ability of our legs to keep up.

Sometimes you gotta step off the wheel, take a deep breather and just look around.
