The Layman said to Yangshan: "I have long wanted to meet you, Yangshan. Now that I have arrived here why are you facing downwards?"
Yangshan raised up his whis.
"Exactly!" exclaimed the Layman.
"Is this pointing upwards or downwards?" asked Yangshan.
Striking an open-air post once, the Layman said: "Though there's no one else but us who sees, the post will testify for me."
Yangshan threw away his whisk, saying: "You may show this wherever you please."
"There's no one else but us who sees." What an ass!
"You may show this wherever you please" Here we are blabbing, and still people run away from Pangyun & Yangshan sitting in the tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G. If this stuff was so hum-drum and wouldn't people have stopped making up whoppers like Zen is "esoteric 420 Alan Watts Dogen trans-yeti hua-tou Buddhism" everyday?
