Despite many warnings across texts reminding us that ordinary mind is the way, chop wood carry water etc., when ZMs get down and dirty and attempt to actually give instructions instead of writing poetry, they seem to imply that going beyond conceptual thinking, good and evil, this and that, is what's key in grasping zen.
Agree? Disagree? Too lazy to look for examples on a phone but if someone contests this claim I'm sure I could dig up a few texts.
