'The pursuit of Zen is a revolution against everything. Every rule. Every teacher. Even against revolution itself.' --ewk. I agree. Discuss?

I'm not going to be ready to do a book report on Zen for quite some time, but while reading, I've been coming more and more to think we can articulate an overarching theme of the Zen lit surprisingly handily: Pursuing Zen is trying to live while acutely aware of the radical contingency of our concepts and our responses.

I take what ewk said above (it's a quote from his book) to be pointing at the same overarching theme.

What do you think of either of these statements as articulations of a big Zen idea, based on your reading of the Zen stuff or your experience? And what do you think of my claim that the two statements are basically pointing at the same thing, semantically very close to each other?
