Not Zen?
Zen master Suzuki Shihan was a person with a lineage of Zen from Zen master Kosho Gakkai. This lineage does not refer to Zen as a whole, but to the original lineage of Zen Buddhism from the first Zen master of Korea, Ch'an master Chan-sho, to Ch'an master Hui-neng. The lineage does not refer to Zen as Zen, but to the original tradition of Zen as Chan Buddhism.
What's your text?
The Zen Master Dogen, from his work of the mid-sixth century, Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind, in which he discusses how we can best practice zazen with the help of a book like The Diamond Sutra: The Complete Guide to the Zen Teaching.
Dharma low tides?
What do you say when you can't even find a teacher who is even willing to take the time to listen to you and give you a chance?
We have to find ways to talk about things we wish to say and not just be reactive, which leads to the question, What do we do if the teacher just seems incapable of hearing us or giving us a chance?
If you find that there's just no opportunity or there's no teacher at all who wants to listen to you, then you have the options of either becoming a teacher yourself, or just walking away. It's not a hard choice to make, but it's not a pleasant one either.
