World Population, 900 AD: ~240 Million
World Population Today: ~7.53 Billion
Difference: 7.29 Billion more people alive today than in 900 AD.
Where are the Zen Masters that aren't full of shit?
Where are the Huang Po's and the Mazu's of the 21st century?
How many good Zen Masters were alive back then? Let's say there were 5 good ones during 900 AD, China's population was ~50 million. So, 1 per 10 million people.
So, we should have several hundred decent Zen Masters alive today. Quality of life and access to information has significantly improved as well, allowing the opportunity for even more Zen Masters to appear.
Where are they?
It's the Fermi Paradox of Zen.
