I need concrete, practical advice. Please be nice.
I have come to an impasse in my practice.
For a while I had been practicing “no-mind,” trying to toss thoughts aside, see everything as maya, and let go of the turning of the Great Wheel. To be more simple, I had been practicing “being present.”
Then all that got me in trouble. And I realized I still have to plan ahead and set goals and be mindful of the time, etc. In other words, I realized the importance of “ordinary mind.”
How do I resolve the tension between the two? Should I try to? If not, is Zen of any use to me?
How can I surrender to the natural course of things and yet also commit to personal responsibility?
These questions aren’t rhetorical. I need help.
Thank you in advance for your time.
