One day, as Hui-tsang was working in the kitchen,
the Patriarch asked him, "What are you doing?"
Hui-tsang replied, "1 am tending an ox."
The Patriarch asked, "How do you tend an ox?"
Hui-tsang replied, "When he wants to enter the grass,
I grab his nostrils and pull him away."
"You are really tending an ox." commented the Patriarch
