Memory of my first zen experience

I apologize; my quote is lacking a page number. It is still very important to me, and was very powerful when I heard it.

When sitting zazen, I sometimes have conversations with a zen master. He is an old turtle. The first time I met him, I was plagued by the monkey mind, while his rid calmly on his shell. I noticed he did not rid himself of it, but rather seemed to tame it. I could almost not tell which beast was the master.

I asked him how I could train mine to behave that way.

He responded, “Why, so I can carry your’s too?”
