(part of) Case 4 BCR with my notes
Pointer
Under the blue sky, in the bright sunlight, you don't have to point out this and that anymore; but the causal conditions of time and season still require you to give the medicine in accordance with the disease. But tell me, is it better to let go, or is it better to hold still?
The choice is yours
as long as you want to make it
Case
When Te Shan arrived at Kuei Shan, he carried his bundle with him into the teaching hall
Te Shan, who said
“From now on I will never again doubt what's on the tongues of the venerable teaching masters of the world.”
Now can’t even put his bundle down and observe a proper introduction in his quest to challenge a ‘teaching master.’
Should he have put his bundle down?
where he crossed from east to west and from west to east. He looked around and said, "There's nothing, no one." Then he went out.
East to west
Some of the way.
There wasn’t anyone in the room
But he claimed nobody.
Hsueh Tou added the comment, "Completely exposed."
Even still:
Everything in the open
But when Te Shan got to the monastery gate, he said, "Still, I shouldn't be so coarse.
Admitting fault
If you were the doctor what medicine would you prescribe?
As Kuei Shan sat there, Te Shan held up his sitting mat and said, "Teacher!"
An aggressive move
Kuei Shan reached for his whisk,
Kuei Shan takes the bait
But isn’t hooked
whereupon Te Shan shouted, shook out his sleeves, and left.
Completely exposed
Who was completely exposed.
Which enlightened master won this game.
If you say neither how many words will it take you to explain?
Think something is missing? Now's your chance to say it.
