Once heard a koan or story, trying to Google it but can't find it.
It goes something like this.. An old master is at the funeral of one of his friends. He is weeping. One of his students is shocked at the old master's expression of emotion. He asks the master, "Where is your equanimity?" The master replies, "Let me grieve my friend!"
