Clear Eyes
People with clear eyes do not settle into fixed ways. The reason you haven't attained this in everyday life is simply that your eyes are not clear. If your eyes were clear you would have attained it. That is why is why it is said that people with clear eyes are hard to find. As soon as you say "This is thus and so," that is a complacent fixation; people with clear eyes are not like this.
Have you not read how Deshan said to an assembly, "Tonight I will not answer questions. Anyone who asks a question gets a thrashing." How could anyone without clear eyes comprehend this? Fail in the slightest to comprehend this, and you fall into conceptual thought, which constructs signals. That is why Deshan's normal experience of life was comprehended by only one person, Yantou. Therefore I say you have to have clear eyes before you can attain this.

I love strip clubs.
I don't always have the money, but when I go I spend and have as much fun as I can. The last one I was in I got a dance from one of the endless beautiful women that flow from those places and while she moved above me I felt my body respond clear as a bell. No confusion! It had been so long since I'd smelled the skin of a woman and felt the touch of her hair and I felt something inside of me that went beyond being horny and I immediately admitted to her how THIRSTY a man could get and she understood. Of course she did.
I think about thirst continually these days.
I keep a cup of ice water beside me at all times and never am I unaware of the true wealth that represents. The privilege I enjoy. There are so many kinds of thirst. I say thirst, although hunger or desire are no different. Why do we come to this place? I think it's because we thirst for something we feel we lack fundamentally.
Foyan encourages me to use my initial inspiration to investigate the fundamental inspiration. Fundamental in that it has never been lost. Even while I feel so lost.
I keep thinking of those traveling monks and all those countless thousands of miles of China countryside those people walked in the pursuit of enlightenment. How many of them found their water and food supply insufficient and died on the road? How many of them arrived at Joshu's remote northern home their lips blistered and their frames gaunt with the true hunger? What would Joshu tell such a person? Would be thrash them upon entering the gate?
The pragmatic in me says stop searching and stay hydrated, stay sated, stay laid, stay rested and let the enlightenment find me. Eat when hungry. Drink when thirsty.
I wanna be her ice water. I wanna be DRANK.
