Humble neophyte in need of assistance

Dearest everyone, I'm Ph3real and I've been trying to get my filthy paws on Zen, so as to comprehend it, understand it and make use of it to improve my life, because I believe that through understanding Zen, the way of thinking becomes better as a result of it.

I've tried reading radical zen and mumonkan, but I find the texts to be very difficult to comprehend in their use of terms that I do not understand( for example, 'gate', 'Mu', when Joshu asks Nansen "Bright? Dark?". ).

/u/Ewk has helped me with the first few passages of radical zen and gateless gate, but I can't get any further without help and I feel that this will make me reliant upon others in studying Zen.

Do you guys have any suggestions as to where I can learn more about the terminology used in Zen literature or if there are sources I need to go to before I can 'GetStarted' on my journey to learning Zen?

Thank you kindly, Your humble beginner
