Yo͞ok Welcome! Meet me My comment: Zen is the Trust in Mind School, but people come into this forum sometimes to talk about debunked messiahs like Dogen or Hakuin or Alan Watts or any number of Zazen sex predators... what is the mechanism at work here?
These people and their messiahs say "don't trust your mind, trust us instead".
Aside from the fact that in the ten years I've been here nobody has come into this forum where trusting someone else worked out for them, aside from the fact that trusting a debunked messiah is obviously a scam... what is the cost of trusting someone else instead of yourself?
It seems like a pretty big decision to encourage other people to make... trusting someone else to tell you what tastes good, who to love, what job to do, what cloths to wear... where does it end?
