Hengchuan said, “Deshan said. There is no birth-and-death to be feared, no nirvana to be gained, no bodhi to be experienced: Just an ordinary person without concerns.
"When Deshan talked like this, a concern was born. With a con cern born, how could we not fear birth-and-death? With fear of birth-and-death, there is nirvana to be attained and bodhi to be experienced.
"Brothers, do not make collections of words!"
. Welcome! ewk comment: People get confused about why Zen Masters say so many words, talk about so many words other people have said, write down so many words, reads so many words... isn't this "collecting" words?
No. It's just compiling.
To write the words on your heart is the collecting words that Zen Masters warn against.
Words aren't where truth is. The heart-mind is where truth is.
