Picking up a flower, showing how dumb his children are—
Today, I bring out this discussion.
Why do words turn you over?
Be someone who is themselves artless, simply,
Like a deep, autumn pool,
A gainless thing.
How would you use the names for "peace"?
Please don't orient yourselves amongst them—
Knowing them is still not this.
Without meeting them, Subhuti,
Arrived at emptiness, and that's that.
妙語方知。佛與祖師言。拈花示癡子。我今發此談。何言顛倒爾。當人自天真。譬之秋潭水。一物著不得。豈用安名字。切莫向其中。認之還不是。不見須菩提。空空達彼彼。
