Mazu gave a deep, guttural shout. "That's a teaching," said the lecture master.
"What sort of teaching?" asked Mazu.
"The lion coming out of the cave."
Mazu was silent. "This is also a teaching."
"What sort of teaching?" asked Mazu.
"The lion in the cave."
"And that which neither goes out nor comes in-what sort of teaching would that be?" asked Mazu.
The lecture master had no reply.

Welcome! ewk comment: The phrase "lecture master" jumped out at me, so I looked that up:
I plugged it into my newly upgraded Pleco (35$) that supposedly now recognizes "ancient chinese" and got "grandparent/ancestor/founder was speechless".
Thanks for nothing, Pleco. Unless... "lecture master" is just a horrible translation?
So why does the lecture-master-grandparent run out of answers?
What is the significance of so many people coming to this forum and running out of answers, words even?
