exisxAMA

Hello there folks of zen after thinking about doing this for quite some time I have finally decided to do a AMA.I have not participated in this forum but have read through many posts and books this last year but never participated as it always felt intimidating but that's how it always feels when you do something new. This year I have been trying to do less talking/thinking and more action so feel free to ask me anything!

1) Where have you just come from? What are the teachings of your lineage, the content of its practice, and a record that attests to it? What is fundamental to understand this teaching? 1.From the gym and what lineage? I don't have any teachings to give to people and as for practices I wouldn't say I have any related to Zen, well except reading books. I can't really say what's fundamental when i know im yet to pass the gateless gate.

2) What's your text? What text, personal experience, quote from a master, or story from Zen lore best reflects your understanding of the essence of zen? A monk asked Chao Chou, " 'The Ultimate Path has no difficulties-just avoid picking and choosing.' What is not picking and choosing?" Chou said, " 'In the heavens and on earth I alone am the Honored One.' " The monk said, "This is still picking and choosing." Chou said, "Stupid oaf! Where is the picking and choosing?" The monk was speechless. What text, personal experience, quote from a master, or story from Zen lore best reflects your understanding of the essence of zen? It has been a whole 35 minutes of me laying on my bed thinking of which quote best reflects my understanding, you see this would of been a good time to have book marked or highlighted specific quotes as a read threw my books. Oh well if I'm to be honest I ended up choosing it as not a lot came to mind but I will say Chao Chou is just so funny to imagine in interactions.

3) Dharma low tides? What do you suggest as a course of action for a student wading through a "dharma low-tide"? What do you do when it's like pulling teeth to read, bow, chant, sit, or post on r/zen? Just make sure you have slept enough instead of running on little sleep with no consumption of water or self-care.What do you suggest as a course of action for a student wading through a "dharma low-tide"?
