People sometimes seem reluctant to point at what they see, as if maybe its impolite, or they are not willing to take a chance on people not understanding them.
After all, its actually impossible to fully describe what is seen. Literature is great when it entertains us with a view that we find enjoyable because it resonates with something we love or something we have been missing.
Deep down, in our most basic level of being, we recognize the difference between what is authentic and that which is constructed on the whipsaw of seeking and avoiding, constructed on the appeal of a self at the center of the universe, constructed on a "me" that is a somebody and not a nobody. If we can remember what it was like before we learned to talk, learned to complain, learned to self-improve, learned to try to please others, learned to atone for our guilt, and all the rest of what is considered ordinary human, but actually is not, this memory of our original nature is actually more than a memory. Its not referenced in thought so much as its referenced in seeing. Religions don't want you to see for yourself, they want you to agree with authorities and experts. Zen is offering us the chance to stop building on the world of thought and see for ourselves. Don't trust the fakes who take you in the direction of building up a new and better paradigm of the world, or seeking signs and wonders that you are attaining something you didn't already have.
