[Meta] Don't Misrepresent Foreigners

Rundown:

Using Romaji renderings of names and terms instead of Chinese romanizations or translations in missionary efforts to the West been an attempt by various Japanese cults to obfuscate the fraudulent relationship of their religion to a bunch of foreign Zen Masters.

Here are a few common misrepresentations that tend to slip through the cracks:

1. Misrepresentation: The practice of ritually-choregraphed, forbidden-to-be-filmed staged "Dharma interviews" as taught by Hakuin and his cult are representative of Rinzai Zen Masters; hence, referring to his cult as "Rinzai" and sexual-predator lineages as "Rinzai Zen Masters" is legit.

   Facts: Rinzai = Linji and his Zen lineage. Neither Linji nor any dharma-descendants upheld ritually-choreographed "interviews" with pre-determined 'correct answers' as legit and called anyone who tried to hide behind claims of religious authority and closed doors as a bunch of phonies.

2. Misrepresentation: The practice of highly-choregraphed sitting rituals as taught by Dogen and his cult are representative of Soto Zen Masters; hence, referring to his cult as "Soto" and sexual-predator lineages as "Soto Zen Masters" is legit.

   Facts: Soto = Caoshan;Dongshan aka. CaoDong and their Zen lineage. There is not only no historical precedent for Dogen's thaumaturgical meditation cult, but meditative practices are repeatedly dismissed as not constituting Zen practice by CaoDong Zen Masters.

3. Misrepresentation: 'Zazen' is a form of thaumaturgic-transformation in which you, through the act of seated meditation, "slough off body-mind, eliminate habitually defiled thought patterns, and realize divinely genuine Buddha dharma"; that this is a Zen teaching stretching back to Bodhidharma through a select few "special" Chinese Zen Masters.

   Facts: Zazen = Zuochan = 'According your mind with all circumstances, not being taken in by arbitrary views'. Zen Masters reject any association between this term and thaumaturgic sitting rituals.

If you can't engage with reality and confront the facts of your religion's bigoted misrepresentation of foreigners, it is probably a bit much to expect you to evaluate whether /r/Zen matches your interests. Regardless, repeating lies about a bunch of foreigners won't get you enlightened.
