Why such a fuss for a few mountains?

After studying some of the Zen texts I can't help but realize it was much fuss for nothing special.

Zen masters seem to be in awe with the mind and particularly nature:

The summit of the peak of the mystic crossing

Is not the human world;

Outside the mind there are no things— Blue mountains fill the eyes.

Fa Yen gave his seal of approval and said, “This one verse alone can perpetuate my school. In the future kings and lords will honor you. I am not equal to you.”

But is it really worth all the fuss and teachings? Just dirt and ugly people everywhere?

Here is another example where they seem to love that there are hands throughout the body:

Yunyan asked Daowu, “How does the Bodhisattva of Great Compassion (Avalokiteshvara) use so many hands and eyes?”

Daowu said, “It’s just like a person reaching back in search of a pillow in the middle of the night.”

Yunyan said, “I understand.”

Daowu said, “How do you understand it?”

Yunyan said, “All over the body are hands and eyes.”

Daowu said, “Almost my friend; all throughout the body are hands and eyes.”

Who gives a *%@! seriously? Boring patterns of hands throughout a lame empty body, that's what I see.

Making teachings out of this is a really sad joke.
