I just listened to Alan Watts: Out of Your Mind a little while back and got me interested in learning more. Has anyone else listened to that? Curious to see people's opinions on it.
Mine is simply that it seemed so incredibly different than much else I had really ever learned about with respect to spiritually/ religion and seems quite a good way to view yourself and the surrounding world..
Alas, I then think of the worlds issues, namely- illness, racism, and in general poor happiness of so many people due to this, that, and the other. What I remember then, is Yuval Harrari's term "intersibjective truth" which is, that which has no real meaning (like race or any number of social consructs) but due to the breadth of people believing it as such, (also, fiat currency) it must very well be true-in this specific "intersubjetive" way. And this term has been talked about before, and after in different ways-but I liked how Mr. Harrari framed it and really got a good definition if I remember correctly. Another individual to use that word without calling that particular name was Mr. Kendi, Ibram X. who said we need to embrace our race as a thing, even though I know well it is a scientific thing, because to do that-to ignore it-is to take inaction (and not in the Alan Wattian sense of inaction being action that is so natural it like nothing) and thereby furthering abuse of racists...
Where am I going?.....
Umm...it is...precisely nothing at all, I guess anyways
