How would you define these two words within a zen context as used in Wumenguan?
Samadhi (三昧) See case 1 of Wumenguan
Dhyana (禪) See all zen texts :)

Here’s what I got:
Dhyana 禪:
Dhyana is seeing your nature and being awake. That’s it, because that’s all zen is. Look!
Samadhi 三昧: In a zen context, this would probably simply be true dhyana. As Huangbo says, 唯此一心即是佛 "Only this one mind is Buddha." In other words, seeing your nature and being awake.
