I've done quite a bit of lurking on here and I'm very aware of the differing opinions of what constitutes zen for different people.
The redditors that generally agree that meditation is not a path to enlightenment (such as the wonderful ewk) have mentioned that meditation can also be harmful. At the same time though they have mentioned meditation as merely an exercise or tool.
As someone who uses meditation to quiet their mind when their OCD causes them to spiral, I was curious how you see meditation and what function this tool serves if not for enlightenment.
Sidenote: I'm not looking to argue, I was just curious on your personal perspectives. I've really enjoyed reading and going down the rabbit hole that is r/zen.
