Every time a new Dogen Buddhist, Hakuin Buddhist, or other New Age Buddhist or two start complaining in this forum, the same questions come up:
- What is "Buddhism"? What do "Buddhists believe"?
- What is your catechism?
- What is the holy text your religion is based on?
- How does your online conduct accord with your religious beliefs?
We never get much in the way of answers from these people, either because * they aren't really Buddhist, or * they don't know and don't care what their beliefs are.
Well, what do we know about them?
They don't like talking about what Zen Masters teach. That's the common denominator. If you follow Dogen, Hakuin, Shunryu, or Thich Hahn, the bottom line is it will turn out you don't like Zen.
Which makes it all the more creepy that these are the people who want to define "Zen" in a public forum.
Bring us back to that traditional Zen Master opening question:
What do they teach where you come from? Submitted October 02, 2019 at 05:36AM by ewk https://ift.tt/2oiVG4U
