A monk asked, "To teach the holy law in this world of ignorance and suffering is like putting a clean robe on a dirty body. Master, how do you teach the people?"
Joshu said, "Where do you see me?"
The monk said, "Master, please teach me."
Joshu said, "Not one of the honorable monks in the hall understands what this monk is talking about."
Another monk said, "Master, please teach me."
Joshu said, "You teach, I'll listen."
If we run into confusion, we can look back through our reasoning to find the error.
