If your own self is clear and everything is It, when you visit a teacher you do not see that there is a teacher. No self and no other means that having a view of acquiring anything whatsoever is false. What can be found that isn't already yours?
When you inquire of yourself, you do not see that you have a self. If one looks deeply within and all at once for mind, there is not a single thing to be found. How can there be any 'mind'? How can there be any 'self'? Ghosts speaking words of smoke in the fog.
When you see in this way, are you not independent and free? The fallacy of words, yet again. To even say or conceptualize the word 'free' is to not be free, for it implies something in the first place that can be free and something to be free from. Even master Foyan couldn't avoid being in error with his speaking.
