An example of a real sage of our recent years would be U.G Krishnamutri, Ramana Maharashi, even Sri Nisargadata Maharaj. They all went trough physical deaths, and physical changes, and they weren't afraid to admit that they had powers. U.G. Said that the people who were in the "natural state" on the planet at that time could be counted on the finger of one hand. So if its so extremely rare, how come we have so many zen masters in the world today? Wasnt in the habbit of the zen tradition that they dont transmit if they dont find anyone capable? Are all these zen masters realised Buddhas? If not whats the point of calling yourself a zen master?
