"There is no need to abandon the mind of sentient being – just do not defile your self-nature."

There was a cultivator who once asked the Master,‭ "How can one abide in the right Dharma?"

The Master said,‭ "To seek to abide in the right Dharma is wrong.‭ Why? Because the Dharma is beyond right and wrong."

The cultivator asked,‭ "How can one become a Buddha?"

The Master said,‭ "There is no need to abandon the mind of sentient being – just do not defile your self-nature.‭ The sutra says,‭ 'Mind,‭ Buddha,‭ and sentient beings are not different from each other.‭"

The cultivator asked,‭ "If one has this kind of understanding,‭ is he going to obtain liberation?"

The Master replied,‭ "Since originally you are not bound,‭ there is no need to seek liberation.‭

The Dharma is beyond words and letters:‭ do not seek it in verbal expressions.‭

The Dharma is not of past,‭ present and future:‭ you can not unite with it within the realm of cause and effect.‭

The Dharma is transcendental and beyond comparison.‭ The dharmakaya is without form,‭ and yet it can manifest forms in response to things.‭

Liberation is not to be sought outside of this world."
