There was a cultivator who once asked the Master, "How can one abide in the right Dharma?"
The Master said, "To seek to abide in the right Dharma is wrong. Why? Because the Dharma is beyond right and wrong."
The cultivator asked, "How can one become a Buddha?"
The Master said, "There is no need to abandon the mind of sentient being – just do not defile your self-nature. The sutra says, 'Mind, Buddha, and sentient beings are not different from each other."
The cultivator asked, "If one has this kind of understanding, is he going to obtain liberation?"
The Master replied, "Since originally you are not bound, there is no need to seek liberation.
The Dharma is beyond words and letters: do not seek it in verbal expressions.
The Dharma is not of past, present and future: you can not unite with it within the realm of cause and effect.
The Dharma is transcendental and beyond comparison. The dharmakaya is without form, and yet it can manifest forms in response to things.
Liberation is not to be sought outside of this world."
