I am hoping that people will here help me understand a bit.
I joined this subreddit a few weeks ago in the hopes of learning more about Zen. This was prompted by me going to a local Soto sangha.
I have found that there's a lot of what I can only call "anti-Soto" or "anti-Dogen" sentiments here. I believe those sentiments are the same.
I don't understand. Why would Soto Zen not be zen? What is the meaningful difference? Why is it zen to focus on what is or isn't zen to the level of discourse that exists here?
I ask this in good faith with the spirit of understanding.
