Dongshan said, "The whole, great treasury of the teaching is only one word; 'This'."

¹ ch. lǐ 理, is the principle, what's inherent, or the absolute basis/pattern etc., as opposed to shì 事, which is the phenomena, worldly affairs, things-in-themselves etc.
