There was a turtle beside Dasui's hut. A monk asked, "All sentient beings have their bones inside their skin—why do these have their skin inside their bones?"
The Master picked up a straw sandal and placed it on the turtle's back. The monk had nothing to say.
[0299a24] 大隨菴側有一龜。僧問。一切眾生皮褁骨。這個眾生為甚骨褁皮。師拈草履覆龜背上。僧無語。
Clearly the skin is wrapped around the bone,
The intricately drawn divination symbols are worth seeing—
He lifted a straw sandal and covered it,
But Dasui was still ridiculed by this monk.
[0299b02] 分明皮上骨團團。卦畫重重更可觀。拈起草鞋都葢了。大隨却被這僧謾。
