If you teach Zen on a prison farm, who benefits? Any attempt by a prisoner to question the authority of the guards would get you punished. The other prisoners would taunt you with public humiliation and ridicule, by adopting the role of the guards. Any attempt at true enlightenment would be deemed not only mistaken, but immoral. In its place you have doctrine, a record, books to bury your prisoners in so they endlessly quote and never wake up (much like Christianity). In short, pseudo-Zen, pseudo-enlightenment, pseudo-masters.
Any attempt to view Zen from its repressive social, political, economic context, let alone advocate for justice, would be frowned upon and censored at the least.
Concur or dispute.
