The importance of community and intimacy in Zen(Embodied, not intellectually) Direct pointing

As a matter of historical Fact.

Zen masters of the past either lived at temples/monasteries training monk and those interested, or they travelled freely visiting other such places.

In some cases they lived solitary lives.

Now, as we find ourselves in the modern era.

What is the consideration that we ourselves bring not only to intellectual study but also the embodied experience of being around others who are interested in the path.

Now. To some degree the answer to this is "Welcome to the text based forum of r/Zen"

But we may in fact be cutting our community off at text when the master's did nothing of the sort.

Where are the voices, the faces, the intimacy of being 1 to 1 in the present moment?

While I have my concerns about certain cultural expressions that have been developed over time in r/Zen.

I can't help but wish that we were able to take this bravery of "breaking the clay oven of superstition" to a place of intimacy where we can (if we choose) join a regular zoom meeting, group call, video chat, audio only.

The technology is there. But is the interest?

So much protest about such a simple invitation is unnecessary.

Without protest or debate.

Are you willing to break the clay oven next Friday at 8pm on Zoom?

I will make the arrangements for all those interested.

Next Friday at 8pm NYC time we will have our first ever r/Zen Zoom Meeting

May it be so and may the wisdom of ewk perfume the air upon this reading/writing)~
