Just did a podcast about this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/zen/comments/vv9zcj/what_is_there_to_stop_us_from_becoming_part_of/
I hadn't read through it before hand, and let's be honest... it's mostly an off topic trainwreck. Let's review some of the off topic comment fails that entirely ignored the Zen reality:
- Claim: People aren't inherently good. Also there are people-monsters
- Claim: People are a product of their environments, and their environments sometimes produce people who suck, and there's no quick fix
- Claim: There are consequences
- Claim: Talking is a waste of time
- Claim: People will @#$# up
- Claim: Emptiness is form, form is rules.
- Claim: Good and evil must exist
- Claim: Taoism is relevant.
There were maybe three or four people who tried to follow the Reddiquette, but mostly (because the OP was a jerk) the entire thread revolved around people playing morality-coaching-online and upvoting each other for doing that.
If anybody wants to talk about what Zen Masters say about any of those juvenile schoolyard claims, let me know.
Otherwise just follow the Reddiquette precepts.
