ThatKir 6.27.2022 AMA.

1) Where have you just come from?

What are the teachings of your lineage, the content of its practice, and a record that attests to it? What is fundamental to understand this teaching?

Don't create complications for yourself out of imaginary problems, attesting to The Truth doesn't rest on a single thing.

If you still have some doubts, go ask Wansong.

2) What's your text?

What text, personal experience, quote from a master, or story from zen lore best reflects your understanding of the essence of zen?

Understanding the essence of awareness isn't reflected in a specific text, hear ye, hear ye, this is not the final word on the matter

So how about something else: the 5 Zen Case challenge. Take the teaching that you're bringing and see how it handles the heat from 5 randomly selected Zen cases.

3) Dharma low tides?

What do you suggest as a course of action for a student wading through a "dharma low-tide"? What do you do when it's like pulling teeth to read, bow, chant, sit, or post on r/zen?

You originally aren't wading through a "dharma low-tide", that's something that people insistint upon a religious understanding of the world use to tie people down with. In the Zen tradition we get the 3P saying to seek for and attatch yourself to nothing, Wumen says that the Gateway of Truth is Gateless.

Pass on through!
