I asked you about greed, anger, and ignorance—
The location of the family dwelling,
Is what I, now, want to give to you.
.
Each and every one of you, you go your separate ways,
Considering carefully,
How to escape the coverings of authority.
.
Those who are "Great" are so named by greed—
They could raise their younger brothers each to a house,
Yet, in each, there lives three task-Masters.
.
Day and night, they all toil together—
They command you, "Make the family household bigger,"
Employing you to "adjust skillfully to circumstances."
.
Students today dislike me bitterly—
This, I swear to them;
One: I want them to know themselves.
Two: I want them to follow the example.
Three: I want them to live right where they are.
Four: I want them to rejoice in the verses of the Buddhas.
.
I give you the proper means to harmonize;
One thing after another, none of it is defiled—
Once you realize, it's all understood.
.
Why must you remove what is bothersome, or hidden?
I am thus—the mother of all Buddhas,
In all directions, extending into all times.
.
