Yün-yen, addressing the assembly, said, "A son exists in a certain household who always answers whatever is asked."
The Master came forward and asked, "How big a library does he have in his room?"
Yün-yen said, "Not a single word."
The Master said, "Then how does he know so much?"
"Day or night, he never sleeps," replied Yün-yen.
"Is it all right to ask him a question?" asked the Master.
"He could answer, but he won't," said Yün-yen.
Now, Yun-yen is back alive! (Dongshan’s Record isn’t chronological.) We can hear by Dongshan’s questioning that he is quite a mature student. They’re both playing Punch and Judy, it seems. It’s a setup, all the way to the end. Who benefits from all that?
But maybe Yun-yen stalls at the last? What do you numbskulls think? Did Yun-yen falter, or did a son just breeze in, grab a juice, and go straight out again without saying a word? If so, then where did he go afterwards? If he, in the end, did say something, what was it?
Q's: Who is that son(or daughter)? What the size of your library - does it equate? If there's no library, no books, then how can he be certain of anything? Why doesn't he get tired? Why is his mouth stopped up?
(P.S. If you have trouble with the "zenny" metaphors, and phrasing - just ask/tell. I'm assuming you don't.)
